November 28, 1992

Bethune-Cookman seized control with a 28-point first-half outburst and rode the dominant two-way performance of Kelvin Daniels to defeat Florida A&M, 35–21, in the 1992 Florida Classic at Tampa Stadium.

The Wildcats posted 400 total yards and controlled the game from the second quarter onward, while the Rattlers rallied late through the air but could not overcome the early deficit.

Florida A&M opened the scoring with a strong opening drive, capped by Earl Reeves’ 6-yard touchdown run to give the Rattlers a 7–0 lead. That advantage quickly evaporated as the Wildcats took over.

Quarterback J.D. Hall answered with a 5-yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7–7. Moments later, Hall struck again through the air, finding Willie Felton for an 18-yard touchdown to give B-CC its first lead.

Bethune-Cookman continued to dominate the second quarter. Daniels, who proved unstoppable all afternoon, scored on a 3-yard run and followed with a 22-yard burst to extend the Wildcats’ lead to 28–7 at halftime.

Daniels wasn’t finished. Early in the third quarter, Hall hit him out of the backfield for a 38-yard touchdown pass, pushing the margin to 35–7 and capping a run of 35 unanswered B-CC points.

Florida A&M mounted a late rally behind quarterback Keith Brown. Brown found Tyrone Davis for touchdowns of 24 and 15 yards, pulling the Rattlers within 35–21 after a successful two-point run on the first score. But FAMU’s comeback effort stalled in the fourth quarter as Bethune-Cookman’s defense tightened.

Daniels finished with 80 rushing yards, two rushing touchdowns, and another score receiving, while Hall completed 19-of-32 passes for 273 yards and two touchdowns. Felton added 100 receiving yards on six catches.

Reeves led the Rattlers with 85 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Terry Mickens paced the receiving corps with 75 yards. Brown threw for 135 yards and two scores but also one interception.

Bethune-Cookman’s explosive first half and Daniels’ three-touchdown performance proved too much for FAMU, delivering the Wildcats a commanding win in the 1992 Classic.
