Florida A&M delivered one of the most dominant performances in Florida Classic history, shutting out Bethune-Cookman 43–0 behind a relentless offense and a suffocating, turnover-producing defense at Tampa Stadium.
The Rattlers controlled the contest from the opening series, scoring in every quarter and rolling up 482 total yards while holding the Wildcats to just 244. FAMU’s defense forced five interceptions and limited B-CC to 91 rushing yards, preventing any sustained drives throughout the afternoon.
FAMU opened the scoring in the first quarter when Mario Allen found Tony Bland for an 18-yard touchdown. The lead grew in the second quarter as Kwame Vidal punched in a 6-yard touchdown run, followed by a 30-yard field goal from Jeff Stephens to make it 17–0 at halftime.
The Rattlers broke the game open in the third quarter. Reggie Glover scored on a 1-yard run, and Vidal followed with a 33-yard burst to extend the margin to 30–0. FAMU continued to pour it on in the fourth, with Damian Slaughter entering at quarterback to throw a 27-yard touchdown to Wilson and later adding a 2-yard touchdown run of his own.
Vidal delivered a standout performance, rushing for 164 yards and two touchdowns on 26 carries. Bland led all receivers with 98 yards and a touchdown on seven catches, while Allen threw for 234 yards and a touchdown despite one interception.
Bethune-Cookman’s offense never found a rhythm. Quarterback Todd Walker completed 16 passes but threw three interceptions, and Wilmer White was held to 48 yards on 13 carries. Morris Nobles led the Wildcats with 70 receiving yards on nine receptions.
Florida A&M’s dominant showing on both sides of the ball secured a decisive Florida Classic shutout, capping one of the most one-sided victories in the rivalry’s history.
