Bethune-Cookman controlled the game from start to finish with a punishing ground attack and a commanding defensive performance, defeating Florida A&M 29–10 in the 2013 Florida Blue Florida Classic at the Florida Citrus Bowl.
Quarterback Quentin Williams earned MVP honors after delivering a dynamic dual-threat performance, rushing for 70 yards and two touchdowns while completing 7 of 10 passes for 95 yards. His early scoring runs set the tone for a Wildcats offense that outgained FAMU 289–89 and dominated time of possession behind 61 rushing attempts.
Florida A&M opened the scoring with a 41-yard field goal from Chase Varnadore, but that would be the Rattlers’ only offensive points of the day. Bethune-Cookman answered quickly as Williams capped a methodical drive with a 10-yard scoring run, then added a 17-yard sprint into the end zone late in the first quarter to make it 13–3.
The Wildcats extended their lead just before halftime when Isidore Jackson powered in a 3-yard touchdown run. Brodrick Waters followed by hitting Branden Bryant for a successful two-point conversion, giving B-CU a 21–3 advantage at the break.
Florida A&M’s lone touchdown came early in the third quarter on a defensive highlight, as Jonathan Pillow scooped up a fumble and returned it 45 yards to trim the deficit to 21–10. But the Wildcats’ defense remained in control, limiting the Rattlers to just eight first downs and 17 passing yards.
Bethune-Cookman added the final points of the game in the fourth quarter when Jackson scored his second 3-yard touchdown run, followed by another successful two-point conversion from Waters.
Jackson finished with 96 rushing yards on 29 carries to accompany his two touchdowns, while Jontavious Carter led the Wildcats’ receivers with 54 yards.
For FAMU, Al-Terek McBurse led the ground effort with 32 yards, and Dewayne Harvey had the Rattlers’ longest reception of the day at 14 yards. Quarterback Carson Royal struggled under pressure, completing just 3 of 19 passes.
Bethune-Cookman’s physicality in the trenches, sustained rushing attack, and stifling defensive effort secured a decisive rivalry win, continuing the Wildcats’ strong run.
