Bethune-Cookman scored 19 fourth-quarter points to rally past Florida A&M, 29–24, in a dramatic Florida Blue Florida Classic at Camping World Stadium.
Quarterback Larry Brihm, Jr. earned MVP honors after throwing for 280 yards and a touchdown while adding two rushing scores, both coming during the Wildcats’ decisive fourth-quarter surge.
Bethune-Cookman opened scoring with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Brihm to Ja-Quan Lumas, but Florida A&M answered with a 30-yard field goal from Yahia Aly and a 31-yard touchdown pass from Ryan Stanley to Kareem Smith. The Wildcats tacked on a 31-yard field goal before halftime, and the teams went to the break tied at 10–10.
FAMU controlled much of the third quarter. Ricky Henrilus gave the Rattlers a 17–10 lead on a 4-yard touchdown run, and Devin Bowers extended the margin early in the fourth with an 8-yard scoring run to make it 24–10.
From there, the Wildcats mounted their comeback. Brihm cut the deficit with a 5-yard touchdown run, then Michael D. Jones followed with a 4-yard touchdown carry, though the ensuing PAT was blocked, leaving FAMU ahead 24–23. After another stop, Brihm orchestrated the go-ahead drive and finished it himself with a 2-yard touchdown run. The two-point attempt failed, but B-CU held a 29–24 lead.
Florida A&M had one final chance to respond, but Bethune-Cookman’s defense closed the door to preserve the win.
Henrilus led the Rattlers with 95 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Stanley went 16-of-28 for 236 yards and a score. Frank Brown paced the Wildcats with 72 receiving yards as B-CU’s late offensive surge pushed them to victory.
