Bethune-Cookman used a series of explosive plays and a dominant defensive effort from MVP Tydarius Peters to defeat Florida A&M, 33–19, in the Florida Blue Florida Classic at Camping World Stadium.
Florida A&M struck first with a 20-yard field goal from Yahia Aly and later added a 24-yard field goal to regain the lead after David Israel’s 1-yard touchdown run put the Wildcats ahead briefly. The Rattlers extended their advantage to 13–7 when Ryan Stanley found Marcus Williams for a 19-yard touchdown.
Bethune-Cookman responded with one of the game’s defining moments: a 99-yard touchdown run from Tupac Isme, tying the game at 13–13 after the missed PAT. Uriel Hernandez later added a 44-yard field goal to put the Wildcats ahead.
FAMU regained momentum early in the third quarter when Stanley connected with George Webb for a 9-yard touchdown, but the PAT was blocked and returned 19 yards by B-CU’s Vernon Walker III, trimming the Rattlers’ lead to 19–18.
From there, the Wildcats dominated the fourth quarter. Jabari Dunham scored on a 5-yard keeper to put B-CU ahead 25–19. Moments later, Peters delivered the knockout blow — a 90-yard interception return for a touchdown, his second interception of the afternoon, extending the margin to 33–19.
Peters finished with 11 tackles, two interceptions and a touchdown, anchoring a B-CU defense that came up with multiple timely stops despite allowing 465 total yards.
Stanley threw for 305 yards and two touchdowns for FAMU, while Xavier Smith caught eight passes for 127 yards. Isme led B-CU on the ground with 107 yards on just five carries, highlighted by his 99-yard score.
Bethune-Cookman’s late surge sealed its victory in another hard-fought Classic matchup.
