Bethune-Cookman found life late in the second quarter when Jalon Jones connected with Daveno Ellington for a 15-yard touchdown. Early in the second half, Jones added a 2-yard touchdown pass to Kemari Averett, trimming the deficit to 27–26 after the blocked PAT.
The Wildcats took their first lead of the game in the fourth quarter on Akevious Williams’ 1-yard keeper. Their defense made the lead stand, holding FAMU scoreless over the final period despite several late Rattler drives.
Williams earned BCU MVP honors with 269 passing yards and a rushing score. For FAMU, Stanley was sharp with 213 yards and three touchdowns, while Smith led all Rattler receivers with 86 yards.
